New york: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that the situation in Gaza is tragic and that Palestinians are crying out for rescue, stressing that the international community cannot remain silent when Palestinians are denied justice.
According to Qatar News Agency, in his speech before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Subianto said the world is witnessing disregard for law and basic human values, emphasizing that no form of oppression should ever prevail. He noted that a significant number of countries have chosen to stand with history, ethics, and justice by recognizing the State of Palestine, and reiterated Indonesia’s support for a two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the security of Israel.
He also highlighted that Indonesia has donated part of its record rice production this year to Palestine and other nations in need, recalling that his country understands the meaning of being denied justice.
On climate issues, Subianto stated that Indonesia is confronting climate change genuinely, not with slogans, pointing to the direct impacts such as the significant annual rise in sea levels. He warned that humanity’s recklessness is one of the greatest global challenges.
He concluded by calling for a strong United Nations, reaffirming Indonesia’s continued support for UN organizations and noting that Indonesia is the largest contributor to international peacekeeping forces, and will continue doing whatever is necessary to promote peace worldwide.
