Doha: Hamad International Airport (HIA) has enhanced services and operational procedures in preparation for the anticipated increase in passenger traffic returning to Doha after the winter holidays. In a statement released on Tuesday, HIA outlined a set of guidelines for a smooth and comfortable travel experience this season.
According to Qatar News Agency, eligible passengers can utilize the e-gate service for faster passport control, including families with children taller than 130 cm. This service is the quickest way to complete arrival procedures during peak times, as highlighted by the airport's statement. For further details, passengers are advised to visit the Ministry of Interior website.
Regarding luggage handling, the airport mentioned that after completing passport control, passengers can easily collect their luggage from the numbered baggage carousels. The baggage belt numbers are displayed on screens in the baggage hall. HIA further explained that oversized items like strollers and wheelchairs are delivered on dedicated belts, advising passengers to check their baggage tags before leaving the baggage claim area. Assistance is available at the baggage services desk in the arrival's hall.
HIA emphasized the use of parking facilities during peak hours for passenger arrivals to facilitate traffic flow and avoid congestion on the sidewalk outside the arrival's hall. Several transportation options are available from the terminal to the city. Authorized taxis and buses operate from designated pavilions on either side of the arrival's hall, while ride-hailing services such as Uber and Badr-go are available from the designated pick-up area. Additionally, the Doha Metro station is accessible via a short indoor walk from the terminal, and car rental, limousine, and valet services are also offered.
The airport added that its teams are on the ground across the facility to ensure passengers have a seamless and smooth arrival.
