HH the Amir Condemns Israeli Aggression on Doha Meeting as Violation of Sovereignty

New york: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani denounced the recent Israeli aggression targeting a Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha, calling it a serious violation of state sovereignty and a breach of international norms. The attack, which took place on September 9, resulted in the death of six individuals, including a Qatari national, and left eighteen others injured.

According to Qatar News Agency, His Highness addressed the opening session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, emphasizing that the attack was an assault on Qatar’s role as a mediating, peace-making state. The Amir highlighted Qatar’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts through peaceful means, stating that the aggression was an attempt to derail negotiations involving Hamas and Israel.

His Highness noted that the mediation, in collaboration with Egypt and the United States, successfully facilitated the release of 148 hostages. Despite Israel’s unilateral cancellation of the latest truce, Qatar continues to pursue a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the entry of humanitarian aid.

HH the Amir criticized the Israeli government’s actions, suggesting that they aim to extend the conflict. He accused Israel of attempting to impose new realities on the region, including ethnic cleansing and territorial expansion. His Highness further condemned the attack on Qatar as an indication of Israel’s broader ambitions in the Middle East.

The Amir expressed gratitude for the global solidarity shown towards Qatar, including the UN Security Council’s unanimous condemnation of the attack. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to diplomacy and its principles, emphasizing the importance of rational and realistic policy.

In conclusion, His Highness reaffirmed Qatar’s dedication to mediation efforts alongside Egypt and the United States, vowing to continue working towards peace and humanitarian goals despite disinformation campaigns.
