Dr. Saeed Mohammed Ali Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Maldives, presented his credentials to Ibrahim Mohamed Saleh, President of the Republic of Maldives, during a ceremony that was held in Saleh’s office in the capital, Male.
Saleh congratulated Al Shamsi, who is the UAE’s first resident Ambassador in his country. Both sides highlighted their keenness to reinforce their bilateral cooperation in all sectors, especially in the tourism sector.
Al Shamsi also met with Abdullah Shaheed, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, at the headquarters of the ministry.
Shaheed congratulated Al Shamsi on his new position and expressed his hope that the launch of the UAE Embassy in the Maldives will reinforce their bilateral ties. Both sides also discussed ways of reinforcing their cooperation, through economic and development projects.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Khalil, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulghaffour Mohamed, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Abdulwares Saeed, Manager at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
