Doha: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned Israeli military incursions into Syrian territory and the shelling of the southern governorates of Quneitra and Daraa, describing the actions as a violation of Syria's sovereignty and international law.
According to Qatar News Agency, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated that the Israeli operations constituted a "dangerous escalation" that risked increasing regional tensions and instability. He emphasized that the continued military actions undermined regional and international efforts to achieve peace and called for respect for Syria's sovereignty, as well as compliance with international law and international humanitarian law.
Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's support for Syria's security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The six-member bloc reiterated its rejection of any actions that violate Syria's sovereignty or threaten its security.
