During his meeting with the German Chancellor, Al-Sudani confirms Iraq’s desire to develop cooperation in the field of clean and renewable energy

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's desire to develop cooperation in the field of clean and renewable energy.

The media office said in a statement that Al-Sudani received in New York, Tuesday evening (Baghdad time), German Chancellor Olaf Schulz, on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, at its seventy-eighth session.

The Prime Minister confirmed that there is a clear growth in the relationship between Iraq and Germany, and progress in the action plan that the two sides agreed upon during his visit to Berlin at the beginning of this year, including the implementation of the contracts that were signed with Siemens Energy Company, expressing Iraq’s desire to develop cooperation in the field of clean and renewable energy.

Al-Sudani referred to the visits made by Iraqi delegations to Germany, including a delegation headed by the Minister of Health to raise the level of cooperation in the health sector, especially in the field of hospital operation, expressing Iraq’s desire for the German Chancellor to participate in the Baghdad conference, scheduled to be held at the end of this year.

For his part, the German Chancellor stressed his country's government's keenness to implement the agreed-upon action plan, follow up and expand the work of German companies in Iraq, and complete the signed contracts on time, indicating Germany's readiness to transfer its expertise to Iraq in the field of energy and associated gas investment.

Schulz praised Al-Sudani's policies that achieved tangible progress and clear stability in the country, noting a recent visit by the German Minister of Economy to Iraq, and also expressed his desire to visit Iraq.
