New york: HE President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, praised the State of Qatar’s initiatives aimed at establishing peace in the African Great Lakes region, seeking an end to a conflict that has persisted for over three decades.
According to Qatar News Agency, President Tshisekedi made these remarks during a press meeting with the global media corps ahead of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He expressed his gratitude to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for responding swiftly and effectively when assistance was requested to restore peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
His Excellency emphasized his deep appreciation for HH the Amir’s role, noting that since the meetings in Doha, hostilities have ceased and meaningful dialogue has begun. He highlighted that the intervention by HH the Amir in March halted the adversary’s advance, and today efforts are focused on discussing a peace agreement, with a tribute of appreciation extended to His Highness.
