Doha Legal Forum Debates Imperative of Updating Legislation to Align with Global Socioeconomic, Digital Transformations

Doha: The opening dialogue session of the Doha Legal Forum, organized by the Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) under the theme "Emerging Trends and Forward-Looking Insights", debated legislative policy in light of emerging trends and the significance of updating legislation and developing the legal system, in alignment with global digital, economic, and social transformations.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali bin Issa Al Hassan Al Mohannadi emphasized that explicit political will is crucial to advancing legislative policies and digital transformation in Qatar. He noted that digital transformation is a strategic necessity for enhancing national transactions, improving judicial service efficiency, and providing swift access to justice.

The Minister highlighted that contemporary legislative policies aim to reinforce justice, protect rights, and uphold the rule of law. These policies focus on improving the quality of legal and judicial services, simplifying procedures for litigants, and building trust in Qatar's legal system among society and investors.

Al Mohannadi stressed the importance of collaboration among government agencies to effectively implement legislative policies, preserve national resources, and achieve development goals. He emphasized the need for flexible legislation to address global socioeconomic and technological challenges, enhancing Qatar's competitiveness and ensuring sustainable legal development.

He further explained that global changes in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and electronic financial services necessitate ongoing legislative advancements. Aligning legislation with evolving technologies is crucial to protecting rights, ensuring justice, and balancing innovation with the rule of law.

The forum serves as an important platform for sharing expertise and envisioning the future of legislation. It brings together decision-makers and legal experts to offer solutions for current legal challenges and promote collaboration among legal institutions to build an advanced judicial environment.

Al Mohannadi outlined that Qatar's legislative efforts and digital transformation aim to establish a modern corporate system based on innovation and the rule of law.
