Awqaf Announces Ummah Writers Forum and Qur’an Conference for October 2026

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, through the Department of Islamic Research and Studies, has announced the second cultural season of the Ummah Writers Forum and the Conference on the Qur’an and Human Knowledge: Towards Mature Human Understanding, scheduled for October 5-6, 2026.

According to Qatar News Agency, this event is organized in partnership with Qatar University, represented by the Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences. Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies, stated that the success of the first season has prompted the continuation of these initiatives.

The theme for this year’s Ummah Writers Forum is “A Civilizational Project in a Turbulent World,” which will emphasize scientific research and methodological studies. This season is structured into four key areas focusing on contemporary Islamic discourse, identity challenges, divine laws, and jurisprudence.

The conference aims to assess the Holy Qur’an’s role in shaping human knowledge and its influence on philosophy, linguistics, law, and politics. Sheikh Dr. Ahmed highlighted the intention to address these subjects through the lens of Qur’anic knowledge, promoting collaboration and insight.

Participation in the forum requires the submission of a scientific research paper, while the conference demands research abstracts. Deadlines for submissions are set for November 2, 2025, for the forum brief content, and October 31, 2025, for conference summaries. Full papers for the conference must be submitted by March 15, 2026.

These initiatives reflect Awqaf’s commitment to fostering academic exploration and dialogue, contributing to the understanding and application of Islamic teachings in contemporary contexts.
