Kermadec Islands: A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Thursday south of the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, 848.2 km southwest of Hicks Bay in New Zealand. So far, no casualties or damage have been reported from the earthquake.
No tsunami warnings have been issued. The Kermadec Islands are about 1,000 km northeast of the North Island of New Zealand and are often exposed to strong earthquakes.
