Uzbek Foreign Minister Condemns Israeli Attack on Doha as a Threat to Middle East Peace

Doha: HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov asserted that the Israeli attack on Doha poses a significant threat to peace across the Middle East, expressing unwavering solidarity with Qatar.

According to Qatar News Agency, in his address to the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, Minister Saidov conveyed the shock felt by many over the attack on Doha, a city he described as dear to Uzbekistan. He emphasized that this attack challenges Qatar’s sovereignty and undermines its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution through diplomatic channels. The attack coincided with ongoing discussions about a potential ceasefire in Gaza.

Minister Saidov characterized the attack as a blow to dialogue and diplomacy, highlighting its disregard for regional security and violation of international norms. He referenced a Security Council statement on the attack, underscoring its seriousness.

The Minister lauded HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s wise leadership in addressing the situation, noting the Amir’s dedication to regional stability and security. Saidov affirmed Qatar’s right to defend its territory and take necessary measures against such attacks.

He stressed that the incident is a significant threat to global peace, reiterating Uzbekistan’s condemnation of the aggression and its stance against destabilizing actions in the Middle East. He urged the international community to act to prevent further escalation.

Minister Saidov also reiterated Uzbekistan’s support for Palestinian rights, advocating for an independent state per United Nations resolutions, and highlighted ongoing Uzbek diplomatic and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian cause.
