UNRWA: 20,000 Palestinians Forced to Flee Jabalia to Seek Safety

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that 20,000 Palestinians were forced to flee the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza in search of safety, including those in UNRWA shelters.

“People lost everything. They need everything including food, water, blankets and mattresses: the basic of the basic,” UNRWA said in a statement distributed by its media office in Gaza.

UNRWA stressed that “critical shortage of fuel and medical supplies are reported in the last remaining hospitals,” adding that “fuel shortages also affect access to water.” The UN organization affirmed that “a dozen trucks of flour were allowed to cross into Gaza City this week, by far not enough.” “Few bakeries in Gaza City could increase bread production for distribution to people in UNRWA shelters,” it explained.

UNRWA said that it is “time to bring respite to people shattered by loss, displacement and grief and time to increase the flow of aid and make it uninterrupted.”
