Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced today that his country, along with its allies, has agreed that reaching at least a ceasefire with Russia is now possible, provided sufficient pressure is exerted on Moscow.
According to Qatar News Agency, Zelenskyy, in his daily address to the nation, stated that he had held over ten conversations with leaders of various countries, and noted that his team remains in constant contact with the United States. He added that national security advisers from Ukraine and allied countries are scheduled to hold talks later today.
Zelenskyy reiterated that Russia has become “more inclined toward a ceasefire” following the recent visit of US Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff to Moscow, part of ongoing efforts to reach a breakthrough in the three-year-long war.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose sanctions on Russia should it fail to take meaningful steps toward ending the conflict in Ukraine.
