Kyiv: The Ukrainian Security Service confirmed today that it blew up a bridge connecting Russia to the Crimean Peninsula, used by both vehicles and trains, after planting explosives underwater.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ukrainian Security Service stated that 1,100 kilograms of explosives were detonated underwater this morning, causing damage to the bridge’s pillars. The bridge was considered a major supply route for Russian forces in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Security Service noted that it had previously targeted the Crimean Bridge twice, in 2022 and 2023, and that today’s underwater strike marked a continuation of those earlier efforts, emphasizing that the operation had been planned over the course of several months.
It is worth noting that the Russia-Ukraine war, now in its fourth year, continues to see daily exchanges of accusations and reports from both sides regarding attacks and military operations. Independent verification of these claims remains difficult due to ongoing fighting since the war began on February 24, 2022.
