Ukraine Announces Agreement to Export Grains from Croatian Ports

Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, announced that Ukraine has reached an agreement with Croatia to utilize Croatian ports on the Danube River and the Adriatic Sea for grain exports.

After the meeting with Gordan Grlic-Radman, his Croatian counterpart, Kuleba said that their plan is to focus on creating the most efficient routes to these ports, aiming to maximize the advantages of this opportunity. He emphasized that each open door represents a sincere and impactful contribution to global food security.

Russia had previously rejected extending the grain initiative agreement, linking its extension to the removal of all obstacles for Russian banks and financial institutions.

On July 22, 2022, an agreement was signed in Istanbul, Turkey, guaranteeing the safe shipment of grain and food supplies stranded in Ukrainian ports due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine, with the mediation of Turkey and international parties.

Since then, the agreement has been extended several times, but on July 17 of the current year, Moscow announced the suspension of its participation, sparking international concerns about a global food crisis, especially considering Ukraine's position as one of the world's largest grain suppliers.
