Doha: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) celebrated the graduation of the first batch of the Class of 2026 on Tuesday. During the ceremony, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater honored 250 outstanding students. The number of graduates this year is 1,321 students from various programs and disciplines.
According to Qatar News Agency, the class includes 484 graduates from the College of Business, 285 graduates from the College of Computing and Information Technology, 341 graduates from the College of Engineering and Technology, and 211 graduates from the College of Health Sciences, reflecting the diversity of the university's academic programs and the breadth of its fields of specialization.
HE President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau and Secretary General of the National Planning Council Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa addressed the graduates, emphasizing Qatar's progress towards a national vision and development strategies. He highlighted the importance of empowering individuals and building a sustainable future through education and responsibility.
UDST President Dr. Salem Al-Naemi commended the graduating class for their resilience and dedication. He underscored the university's commitment to education that goes beyond classrooms, focusing on people, dialogue, and knowledge as foundations for progress.
Dr. Al-Naemi also outlined the university's strategic direction, highlighting new academic programs such as the Master of Science in Midwifery and the Executive Master of Health Administration. The university now offers 80 academic programs designed to meet local and global economic demands.
The university places emphasis on professional training and applied research in critical areas including sustainability and digital transformation. A comprehensive strategy aimed at achieving carbon neutrality has been announced, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Class of 2026 valedictorian, Mohamad Al-Qassabi, expressed his happiness in representing his fellow honor graduates. Dr. Al-Naemi noted that this class includes the first batches of several new programs, aligning with future sector needs.
The UDST President expressed delight in the accomplishments of the graduating class and wished them success in their future endeavors. He emphasized the university's commitment to applied education that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application to meet job market demands.
