Two US Troops Killed, One Missing After Iran Attacks Base in Jordan

Amman: Two US service members in Jordan were killed, and one was reported missing in action as the US and its allies defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, the US military announced Saturday. These casualties occurred on Friday, as confirmed by US Central Command, marking the first US fatalities directly attributed to Iranian fire since the onset of the Iran war.

According to France24.com, the conflict has seen a significant escalation with the recent events. US airstrikes targeted critical infrastructure in Iran, including bridges and a port surveillance tower. In response, Iranian officials, for the first time, referred to these as "attacks on power infrastructure" and urged the public to conserve electricity.

Further developments included Tehran launching strikes on US military sites in the Gulf region, specifically in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. The assaults resulted in damage to a desalination and electricity plant in Kuwait. Iranian reports indicated that 38 people have been killed and more than 400 injured due to US strikes since June 22, 2026.
