Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met Saturday with his South Korean counterpart Park Jin, who is visiting Turkiye.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, defense industries, transportation and other fields, in addition to signing a road map outlining the institutional framework for relations between the two countries.
At a news conference with his South Korean counterpart, Fidan said that Turkiye and South Korea are strategic partners, noting that bilateral trade volume between the two countries increased to $10 billion last year. Fidan added: "Our goal is to reach $15 billion on the basis of a balanced trade relationship." He added that the roadmap that was signed aimed at enhancing cooperation in many fields, including communications, health, technology, education, agriculture and other sectors.
For his part, the South Korean Foreign Minister said that his country seeks to strengthen the strategic partnership with Turkiye in various fields, noting that he discussed with his Turkish counterpart ways to enhance economic cooperation in the fields of defense, nuclear energy and infrastructure.
