Turkiye's presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin said that Ankara has left the door open for Stockholm's bid to join NATO if it shows will and determination.
In statements, Kalin added that Turkiye's approval of Finland's NATO membership came after Helsinki's response to Turkish demands regarding combating terrorist organizations and limiting the activities of supporters of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on its soil.
He stressed that his country was and still supports the idea of expanding the NATO.
He added that he had told members of the US Congress, during recent meetings that Washington's linking between the F-16 fighters and Sweden's NATO membership was a mistake.
On March 17, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country's approval of Finland's NATO membership coinciding a visit by his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto to Turkiye. President Erdogan delayed approving Sweden's request to join the alliance.
