Turkish Defense announces the killing of 1,351 opposition militants since the beginning of this year

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of 1,351 militants opposed to Turkey, most of them from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, since the beginning of this year, and 80 of them during the past week.

Turkish Defense Spokesman Zaki Ak Turk said in a media briefing today that the Turkish Armed Forces “continue to combat all types of threats and risks, especially terrorist organizations, with determination.”

Ak Turk added: “Since January 1 of this year, 1,351 terrorists have been neutralized in the area of anti-terrorism operations, and 80 of them during the past week.”

He pointed out that during that period, the Turkish Air Force targeted 82 sites in the areas of the Qandil Mountains, Assos, Kara, Matina, Al-Zab, and Hakurk (northern Iraq), and, according to preliminary information, resulted in the killing of 58 PKK militants and the destruction of their fortifications, caves, and warehouses.
