Three Al Shabaab Fighters Killed in Somali Military Operations

Doha: Somali authorities have announced that three Al Shabaab group fighters were killed in two separate military operations in the country’s south-west.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Somali Ministry of Defense said in a statement that special forces carried out an operation on the Al Qaeda-linked group in the village of Abal in the Bakool region, resulting in the death of a senior commander. Another military operation targeted the village of Waro Montania in Bay region, where two militants were killed.

Somali forces have recently intensified operations against Al Shabaab, which has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks and bombings that have killed hundreds of civilians and security personnel. In recent months, the military has succeeded in regaining control over several areas previously held by the group, particularly in central Somalia.
