The Parliamentary Sovereignty Coalition condemns the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran and the Iraqi flag

The Head of the Parliamentary Sovereignty Alliance bloc, Sheikh Shaalan Al-Karim, condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran and the Iraqi flag.

Al-Karim said in a statement: “Once again, one of the demented extremists, haunted by hatred, burns and insults the Noble Qur’an and the Iraqi flag in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, and with the approval of the Swedish authorities, who did not pay any attention to the demands of the Iraqi government to curb the likes of the imbecile who practiced this despicable act under flimsy titles that contradict respect for the beliefs of hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world, or the feelings of Iraqis who cherish their national values, because of the symbolism that the Iraqi flag represents.

He added: "The Parliamentary Sovereignty Alliance bloc strongly condemns and denounces the Swedish government's disregard for this dangerous and sinful act, which makes it a partner in spreading hatred and racist actions in a manner that violates and contradicts the principles of human rights and the right to express opinion, in addition to the lack of respect for Iraq, its sovereignty and its people, despite the positive relations that bind the two countries."

He pointed out: "The Parliamentary Sovereignty Alliance bloc calls on the Iraqi government to take practical and effective punitive steps towards the Swedish government and to take all necessary and necessary measures towards the Ambassador to Baghdad and to work hard to reconsider all bilateral relations and agreements signed with Sweden."

He called for taking effective parliamentary steps and stopping cooperation with the Swedish parliament and Swedish organizations operating in Iraq, as well as understanding the general state of anger in Iraq in the midst of the deliberate abuses emanating from Sweden, which affected the future of relations between the two countries.
