The Minister of Foreign Affairs discusses with his Egyptian counterpart in Doha ways to develop bilateral relations and ways to develop them in all fields

Baghdad Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein discussed with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry ways to develop bilateral relations in all fields.

A Foreign Ministry statement indicated that its Minister met today with his Egyptian counterpart on the sidelines of his visit to Doha to participate in the consultative meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers hosted by the State of Qatar.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the region, and the need to make efforts to maintain security and stability, and work towards resolving problems and crises through the adoption of dialogue and non-escalation; because it does not serve the region, they also stressed the importance of strengthening consultation and discussion on a number of regional issues of concern to the two countries.

Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein affirmed Iraq’s keenness to enhance consultation with Egypt, believing in the effective role it plays in the region.

He pointed to the importance of holding the tripartite summit among Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, calling for holding a dialogue that brings together the neighboring countries of Iraq in Baghdad to bring the views closer and strengthen the dialogue and negotiation mechanism to resolve all issues of concern to the region.

The meeting was attended, according to the statement, by Iraq’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar Omar Al-Barzanji, head of the Arab Department Osama Mahdi Ghanem, and Adviser Ban Ali Kadhem.
