The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate praised the support of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, for the media and the provision of all facilities for media professionals to exercise their role in covering journalistic activities.
The Syndicate called on all media outlets, social networking sites and some bloggers to exercise accuracy and caution in spreading, promoting and fueling rumors, and the necessity of transmitting information from its sources.
For its part, the Syndicate's branch in Maysan Governorate issued a statement regarding the Prime Minister's visit to the province, in which it said:
The media represents the main interface in the transmission of important events and news that are communicated honestly, credibly and professionally from the official to the recipient, which is certainly subject to credibility and professional standards to be sufficient material for evaluating the event.
It added: "Perhaps one of these events is the Prime Minister's visit to Maysan Governorate, which is the first of its kind as Prime Minister, and what it carried of important outputs represented by the opening of strategic projects and the inclusion of other projects that the media contributed to covering in the best and most splendid way."
It pointed out: "There are some violations issued by an individual who did not deal well with the media as an institution and a fourth authority that has its own entity, importance and respect, noting that this individual does not reflect the true image of the government's personality or the Prime Minister." Journalists were prevented from moving freely to cover their activities. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister dealt with professionalism and responsibility in dealing with the situation, as usual, in restoring the prestige of the media by allowing media professionals to freely practice their work and activities, which in turn offered a personal apology to the press family and the Press Syndicate branch for that irresponsible behavior to anyone by one of his bodyguards../ End
