The International Community pledges to allocate 65.9 billion dollars for the reconstruction of Ukraine

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly announced that the international community has pledged $65.9 billion to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.

This came in his speech during the closing plenary session of the “Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023”, Thursday, which was hosted by the British capital London for two days.

“The common and primary goal of the talks is to secure Ukraine’s long-term freedom and economic prosperity,” Cleverly said.

“Through our presence here today, we are building an alliance for the reconstruction of Ukraine, to ensure that all segments of society come together to support Ukraine, especially after the decline of its economy as a result of the war,” he added.

The British Foreign Secretary confirmed, “I have no doubt that Germany will continue this important work next year,” referring to hosting the next edition of the conference in 2024.

“We did not imagine that the conference would include financial pledges, and yet today we announce the international community’s pledge of a total of 60 billion euros ($65.9 billion) to support Ukraine,” he said.

The “Post-War Recovery of Ukraine” conference was launched in London on Wednesday, with the participation of a wide range of stakeholders, with the aim of mobilizing financial and political support for post-war reconstruction in Ukraine.
