Rio de janeiro: Team Qatar’s beach volleyball advanced to the finals of the Elite16 Beach Volleyball World Tour, currently being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari pair Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan secured their place in the finals after defeating Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) in the semifinals. The Qatari team delivered an outstanding performance and maintained dominance throughout the match.
In the finals later today, Qatar will take on Cuba, who secured their spot with a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the Netherlands will face Latvia in the third-place playoff.
Currently ranked ninth in the world with 5,720 points, the Qatari duo are aiming to further improve their standing through this high-profile international event.
