Shura Council Commends Amir’s Role in G7 Summit

Doha: The Shura Council held its regular weekly session at Tamim bin Hamad Hall, chaired by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. The Council expressed appreciation for HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in the G7 Summit, which was upon the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The Council affirmed that this participation highlights Qatar's significant international presence and the recognition of His Highness's efforts in fostering dialogue and supporting global security and stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Council emphasized that HH the Amir's involvement in the working session titled "Overcoming Crises and Enhancing Stability in the Middle East" showcased Qatar's critical role in promoting diplomatic solutions, securing international navigation and trade, and bolstering global cooperation to address common challenges. HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the agenda, and the Council approved the minutes from its previous meeting.

The Council proceeded to approve the draft law on animal welfare in its amended form and forwarded it to the government after reviewing the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee's report and discussing its provisions. HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim informed the Council that the draft law amending certain provisions of the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law, issued by Law No. (13) of 1990, was referred to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for examination as per Article (114) of the Shura Council's Internal Regulations.

Additionally, the Council reviewed reports on its delegation's participation in the 41st session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was conducted virtually in April. They also examined reports on the involvement of HE Khalid bin Abbas Kamal Al Emadi in the 18th General Assembly of the Arab Scout Parliamentary Union in Morocco in May, and HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti in the IPU Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians held in Serbia in June.
