Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Russia carried out more than 2,000 airstrikes on Ukraine over the past week, calling on allies to provide additional support to his country.
According to Qatar News Agency, Zelenskyy posted on Telegram on Sunday, emphasizing that stability and predictability of assistance to Ukraine are crucial in pushing Moscow toward diplomacy. He highlighted Kyiv's urgent need for more defense aid to counter the ongoing aggression.
Zelenskyy detailed that over the past week, Russia deployed more than 1,070 guided aerial bombs, nearly 1,000 attack drones, and six missiles against Ukraine. He underscored Kyiv's reliance on future security guarantees from the United States, Europe, and partners within the Coalition of the Willing.
Amid ongoing negotiations led by Washington, Zelenskyy expressed hope for a just and lasting peace. He stressed that Ukraine must remain vigilant and prepared to defend itself if diplomatic efforts fail to persuade Russia to halt the conflict that has persisted since February 2022.
His comments followed a recent meeting in Kyiv between Ukrainian officials and security advisors from European allies. The meeting aimed to explore specific strategies to end the ongoing war with Russia.
