Russia and Ukraine Engage in New Geneva Talks to Discuss War Resolution

Geneva: A new round of talks between Russia and Ukraine began in Geneva on Tuesday, mediated by the United States, as part of efforts to find ways to end the war that has been ongoing since 2022.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Geneva talks are running in parallel with European moves, with Ukraine's allies set to meet in France this week to discuss additional assistance arrangements, particularly in the areas of energy and military support, amid continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

In his remarks ahead of the talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that diplomacy will be more effective alongside justice and strength, referring to sanctions pressure and steady, swift support for the Ukrainian army.

Upon the start of negotiations, Moscow has reaffirmed its demands concerning regions in eastern Ukraine, while Kyiv rejects making territorial concessions, stressing that any settlement must be based on respect for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Geneva track represents a new test of the possibility of achieving political progress, at a time when diplomatic efforts intersect with ongoing military operations and parallel European moves to strengthen support for Kyiv in the coming phase.
