Doha: The Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) organized the first workshop on the commencement of private charitable organizations, following the successful completion of institutional and organizational modernization requirements. Representatives of the organizations and several RACA officials participated in the workshop.
According to Qatar News Agency, RACA stated that the workshop featured introductory presentations from its various departments, along with detailed explanations of the latest updates, work mechanisms, and operational procedures. These efforts aim to enable institutions to begin performing their duties within an organized and transparent work environment.
During the opening of the workshop, Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of Licensing and Support at RACA, remarked that the workshop marks a new starting point for a more organized and effective charitable role. He praised the development efforts achieved recently and highlighted the Qatari society’s anticipation for the return of these institutions to charitable and humanitarian work. Al Nuaimi expressed the authority’s commitment to supporting and cooperating to enhance the efficiency of charitable work and ensure institutions are ready to carry out their roles according to the highest standards of governance and transparency.
Mohammed Al Qaed, Director of the Risk and Compliance Department at RACA, elaborated on the department’s responsibilities in promoting a culture of compliance within institutions. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the legal and regulatory framework and mitigating risks related to illicit financing.
Other RACA officials discussed various topics, such as the obligations of private charitable institutions under the Supreme Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing decisions, individual application forms, the electronic portal process, licensing requirements, and project implementation. They also reviewed available services and access to the portal.
Eiman Al Absi, Director of the Supervision and Control Department at RACA, provided a comprehensive presentation on the department’s responsibilities. She emphasized its crucial role in monitoring institutional performance and ensuring transparency in the implementation of charitable projects.
