Madrid: Qatar Museums, in collaboration with the Norman Foster Institute, announced an open call for applications to the Sustainable Cities Master’s Program in Spain’s capital Madrid. As part of this initiative, Qatar Museums will offer four scholarships to Qatari citizens and Qatar-based residents, supporting the next generation of leaders in sustainable urban development.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar Museums has worked with the Norman Foster Institute to designate Lusail City as a pilot city within the program. Lusail will serve both as a case study of Qatar’s pioneering achievements in sustainable urbanism and as a platform to imagine its future evolution. The research will generate valuable insights that can inform ongoing development and position Lusail as a global reference point for sustainable city-making.
Launched in 2024, the Norman Foster Institute on Sustainable Cities bridges academia and practice. Its flagship Master’s Program on Sustainable Cities integrates research and practice across disciplines such as City Science, Urban Design, and Architecture, training future leaders to shape the cities of tomorrow.
The Sustainable Cities Master’s Program welcomes applicants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds – including architecture, planning, economics, science, engineering, sociology, and anthropology, amongst others – who are committed to advancing holistic approaches to the design and management of cities. The program is open to graduate and postgraduate students, as well as professionals of all ages, nationalities, and genders, provided they meet the eligibility requirements.
