Doha: Gold prices fell on Tuesday, pressured by a stronger dollar, while markets looked to the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy decision for clues on the interest rate outlook. Spot gold fell 0.7% to $4,044.81 per ounce after rising as much as 1% on Monday. US gold futures for August delivery lost 0.8% to $4,045.40.
According to Qatar News Agency, the decline in gold prices coincided with a broader downturn in the precious metals market. Spot silver fell 1.9% to $57.30 per ounce, while platinum experienced a loss of 1% to settle at $1,605.14. Palladium also slid, dropping 1.6% to $1,271.09.
The fluctuations in precious metal prices are closely tied to movements in the dollar and speculation around the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. Investors are keenly awaiting the Fed's decision, which is anticipated to provide further insight into future interest rate adjustments. These economic indicators are critical, as they influence investment decisions related to non-yielding assets like gold.
