Qatar’s Unwavering Support for Lebanon Highlighted by Al Raya

Doha: Al Raya newspaper highlighted Qatar's ongoing support for Lebanon, stressing that standing by the Lebanese people represents a consistent approach and an established policy rooted in a deep belief that Lebanon's stability is a key pillar of security and stability across the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Raya's editorial titled "Qatar's Continued Support for Brothers in Lebanon," emphasized Doha's commitment to supporting the Lebanese people and their institutions through diplomacy and active political engagement. The support is based on Arab solidarity and shared responsibility toward critical issues, alongside humanitarian and development assistance.

The newspaper reported that Qatar has remained among the leading supporters of Lebanon in both words and action, consistently responding to calls for assistance. Qatar's presence has been significant during pivotal moments in Lebanon's history, whether through diplomatic efforts or support for vital sectors including health care, education, energy, the Lebanese Army, and state institutions.

Al Raya noted that Qatari support for Lebanon's energy sector and army has exceeded $434 million. This includes the provision of about 6,100 tons of fuel to the Lebanese Army and a $30 million grant to secure its fuel needs for six months, thus strengthening its ability to maintain security and stability.

The editorial highlighted Qatar's active role within the Quintet Group on Lebanon as an aspect of its continued support, with Doha working closely with partners to coordinate efforts aimed at preserving Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity while supporting recovery and development.

Al Raya emphasized that Qatar's engagement in Lebanon reflects a deep understanding of the difficult circumstances facing the Lebanese people. It noted Doha's belief in supporting stability through practical steps that address people's needs and enhance state institutions' capability to fulfill their national role.

The newspaper stressed that Qatar's solidarity with Lebanon transcends mere slogans, demonstrated by practical initiatives such as allocating $50 million for reconstruction efforts in areas damaged by the Beirut port explosion and establishing an air bridge to deliver humanitarian and medical aid, including around 100 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

Additionally, Qatar pledged $30 million at the Paris conference to support emergency relief projects in Lebanon, reaffirming its commitment to assisting the Lebanese people in facing challenges.

Al Raya concluded its editorial by emphasizing that through its ongoing support, Doha is renewing its commitment to Lebanon. This steadfast approach is based on the belief that Lebanon's stability is inseparable from the region's stability and future, and Qatar's priorities toward Lebanon will remain unchanged despite shifting circumstances.
