Cairo: The Qatari national basketball team is set to face its Kuwaiti counterpart tomorrow at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex. This matchup is part of the second round in the 22nd edition of the Arab Under-16 Basketball Championship, currently underway in Cairo and running until August 17.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari team is eager to secure a win in tomorrow’s game to compensate for their earlier defeat against Bahrain in the tournament’s first round, where they lost 90-58. Qatar currently stands with one point, while Bahrain has two points.
Qatar’s schedule includes a third match against Egypt the day after tomorrow, followed by a game against Algeria next Thursday. The preliminary round matches will conclude with a face-off against Tunisia next Friday.
The tournament features six teams: Qatar, Bahrain, Tunisia, Kuwait, Algeria, and Egypt, the host nation. The competition follows a single round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final. Teams ranked third and fourth will compete in the third-place playoff.
The Qatari delegation in Cairo is led by Abdullah Sultan Al Jaber, a member of the Qatar Basketball Federation’s Board of Directors, along with Khalid Al Mughanni, the Director of youth national teams.
