Doha: Qatar is making significant strides towards becoming a pivotal global logistics hub while simultaneously committing to environmental sustainability, as highlighted in recent editorial insights from major Qatari newspapers.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya has underscored Qatar’s ambitious projects aimed at enhancing the logistics services sector. These initiatives are part of a strategic effort to position the nation as a central player in the global transport, supply, and logistics chains. The editorial highlighted Qatar’s development of modern logistics systems that seamlessly connect its world-class airport, seaports, and land borders via an advanced road and logistics network. It also referenced remarks by HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Thani at the Maritime Cyprus 2025 Conference, where he detailed Qatar’s national strategy for the logistics services sector. This strategy aims to diversify transportation modes, develop logistics zones, and align them with sustainability objectives, all in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The editorial further lauded Qatar’s maritime sector advancements, noting Hamad Port as one of the most advanced in the region due to its cutting-edge infrastructure and expanding capacity. The minister emphasized the importance of regional and international partnerships to ensure smooth trade flow, leveraging a flexible transport and logistics network provided by Hamad International Airport and Hamad Port.
In a separate editorial, Al-Arab focused on Qatar’s environmental sustainability efforts, emphasizing the country’s commitment to protecting natural resources and combating desertification and drought. The paper highlighted Qatar’s initiatives like regulating land use, expanding afforestation, and applying sustainable agricultural techniques. It also mentioned the “Plant Million Trees” initiative, which aims to plant 10 million trees by 2030, illustrating Qatar’s resolve to combat desertification and enhance environmental sustainability.
