Doha: The National Day of the State of Qatar is recognized as a significant national milestone, celebrating the legacy of the Founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, who established the nation's sovereign foundations rooted in principles of honor, dignity, and independence, as expressed by HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Al Subaie emphasized that the National Day embodies the values of belonging and pride in the Qatari identity, deeply embedded in heritage and loyalty. This day is an opportunity to reflect on the path of building and development led by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes sustainable development across various sectors.
The Minister noted that the day serves to deepen patriotism and loyalty to the nation and leadership, while highlighting comprehensive developmental achievements. He pointed out that the environmental and climatic advancements in Qatar are a continuation of a balanced development approach that honors Qatari heritage and future aspirations.
Al Subaie highlighted the unity of the Qatari national fabric, symbolized by this day, which strengthens community bonds among citizens and residents committed to Qatar's progress. The occasion promotes awareness of societal values such as cohesion and respect for cultural diversity, ensuring these principles are instilled in future generations.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the opportunity presented by this occasion to renew commitments to environmental protection and climate action, which are essential for sustainable development and conserving resources for future generations.
He also discussed the Ministry's key milestones in 2025, underscoring the support from leadership that positions Qatar as an active participant in regional and international environmental and climate organizations. The Ministry is advancing the National Strategy for Environment and Climate Change (2024-2030), marking significant shifts towards sustainability and balancing economic and environmental priorities.
The Ministry has developed a comprehensive National Environmental Monitoring Network, which includes air and water-quality monitoring and environmental surveillance. This system also features early-warning mechanisms and digital transformation of environmental services through digital platforms.
Al Subaie highlighted breakthroughs in protecting biodiversity and the natural environment, including desertification control, vegetation cover development, and marine habitat restoration. He noted efforts in promoting the Circular Economy and sustainable waste management, supported by environmental innovation.
The Ministry prioritizes cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence in environmental actions, having launched advanced digital platforms for air quality and radiation monitoring, biodiversity data, and environmental innovation.
Looking ahead, Al Subaie stated that the Ministry is executing the 2024-2030 Strategy's programs, enhancing AI-powered monitoring, expanding habitat protection programs, and fostering cooperation in the Circular Economy and scientific research.
Finally, Al Subaie emphasized that the Ministry's vision is founded on the belief that the environment is critical to human prosperity, highlighting the shared responsibility of preserving natural resources to achieve sustainable development for current and future generations.
