Qatar’s GCC Solidarity and Worker Safety Initiatives Highlighted in Editorials

Doha: Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) held in Manama, noting that the Qatar delegation was led by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi. In its editorial, the newspaper emphasized the importance of cohesion and solidarity among GCC states and peoples under the leadership of Their Majesties and Highnesses, describing it as a fundamental defense against regional security threats. It asserted that the security of GCC states is indivisible, with an attack on one being considered an attack on all.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorial further noted that the statement issued following the 167th session of the GCC Ministerial Council in Manama strongly condemned Iran's aggressive actions against Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. It highlighted the effectiveness of the GCC's joint defense and air defense systems in dealing with these threats. The editorial concluded by stating the GCC's commitment to peace, good-neighborly relations, and diplomatic solutions for resolving disputes.

In another perspective, Al-Arab newspaper affirmed that the 2026 Heat Stress Prevention Campaign launched by Qatar's Ministry of Labour showcases the country's dedication to protecting workers and enhancing occupational safety. The campaign aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, aiming to improve workers' quality of life by fostering a safe and sustainable work environment. The newspaper outlined the Ministry's efforts to promote prevention culture at workplaces, strengthen compliance with safety requirements, and raise awareness through initiatives and inspections.

The campaign seeks to protect workers during the summer by increasing awareness of preventive measures and intensifying educational programs for employers and workers. These initiatives aim to mitigate heat stress risks and ensure a safe working environment. The editorial also mentioned efforts by the Ministry of Municipality to promote occupational safety culture through awareness programs.
