Qatar’s Anti-Corruption Efforts Highlighted at Global Conference

Doha: In a significant event underscoring Qatar's pivotal role in the global fight against corruption, the nation recently hosted the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties (COSP11) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorial published by Al-Arab emphasized the broad international participation of officials and experts, highlighting Doha's commitment to supporting international efforts to combat corruption. This event reflects Qatar's determination to cooperate with all countries and institutions to collectively address this global issue. Hosting the conference reaffirms Qatar's capability and resolve, in partnership with the international community, to strengthen cooperation frameworks in the fight against corruption. The session attracted more than 2,500 participants from governments and regional and international organizations, featuring around 120 official side events.

The editorial further noted that Qatar has consistently worked to establish strong foundations for combating corruption and promoting integrity and transparency. In 2007, Qatar ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption, and in 2011, the establishment of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority further solidified its efforts. This specialized body is tasked with promoting integrity, enhancing oversight, safeguarding public funds, and preventing crimes affecting the public sector.

Similarly, The Peninsula, in its editorial titled "Shaping Tomorrow's Integrity," highlighted the opening of the UN Anti-Corruption Conference in Doha as a reminder of the persistent global challenge of corruption. With over 2,500 participants from 170 countries, the conference aims to advance the global anti-corruption agenda significantly. The paper stressed that the real test will be whether the conference's discussions translate into measurable change. The focus on practical outcomes aligns with Qatar's National Vision 2030, emphasizing integrity and good governance.

The Peninsula also highlighted the importance of involving civil society, the private sector, academia, and youth in anti-corruption efforts, not merely consulting them.

In another context, Al-Raya discussed Qatar's National Day celebrations, closely associated with Darb Al Saai. The newspaper noted the long-standing tradition of these events, which showcase Qatar's heritage and introduce new generations to the life, history, and values of the Qatari people. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani recently visited Darb Al Saai, emphasizing the importance of preserving and transmitting Qatari heritage to future generations.

Al-Raya concluded by noting that this year's National Day celebrations coincide with Qatar's hosting of the Arab Cup, with cultural and heritage activities aligning with the national vision of broad participation. These celebrations highlight Qatar's history and authentic heritage, cementing Darb Al Saai's status as a symbol of Qatar's National Day.
