Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted various topics emerging from the local and regional fronts in their Thursday editorials, especially the phone call between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, which gave a clear message regarding the priority of dialogue and supporting peaceful solutions.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also paid special attention to developments in the Gaza Strip and referred to the launch of the second phase of US President Trump's ceasefire plan in Gaza, as well as the ongoing Qatari efforts and joint mediation to support de-escalation and improve the humanitarian situation.
On the economic front, the papers highlighted Qatar's leading global position in the energy sector and its pivotal role in the liquefied natural gas market, making it a key pillar of economic security and sustainable development.
For its part, Al-Watan newspaper emphasized that the phone call between HH the Amir and HE Prime Minister of Pakistan reflected Qatar's concern to spare the region and the world from any new factors of instability caused by hotspots of tension that require sincere efforts to extinguish.
The newspaper indicated that the call discussed the latest regional and international developments of joint interest, particularly de-escalation, enhancing dialogue, empowering peaceful solutions, and supporting diplomatic efforts aiming to support security and stability in the region.
Al-Watan stressed Qatar's strong belief in consolidating international peace and security by encouraging peaceful solutions to conflicts, as it has continually made mediation efforts between conflicting parties to reach peaceful settlements.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Watan emphasized that the current situation in the region calls for every possible effort to spread an atmosphere of security and stability through acceptable solutions that meet everyone's requirements, which Qatar and its partners rely on to prevent chaos and unrest.
On the regional front, Al-Raya highlighted the welcome for the formation of the Palestinian Technocratic Committee to Administer the Gaza Strip, headed by Dr. Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath, as part of the efforts of Qatar. This step is viewed as an important development that will contribute to strengthening efforts aimed at consolidating stability and improving the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The newspaper noted that this development reflected the role played by Qatar, along with Egypt and Turkiye, in supporting political and humanitarian solutions and working to bring viewpoints closer to serve the goal of consolidating the ceasefire, preventing renewed escalation, and preparing the ground for moving to the second phase of the agreement.
In this context, Al-Raya stressed the importance of all parties committing to implementing and respecting the terms of the agreement, particularly Israel fulfilling its humanitarian obligations, including ensuring the flow of aid, facilitating access to relief, and improving the living conditions of Gaza's residents.
The State of Qatar continued to play its role towards Gaza in coordination with its mediation partners and did its utmost to accelerate the arrival of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the sector, which includes bringing in more aid and facilitating its passage through the Rafah crossing, the newspaper added.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Raya said that the success of the current efforts is linked to the ability to translate the understandings into a tangible reality that puts an end to the recurring cycles of violence and opens a more stable horizon for the Gaza Strip, in line with the aspirations of the Palestinian people for security, stability, and a decent life.
