The Qatari dailies underlined that Her Highness’s speech expressed the feelings of anger and frustration caused by the Israeli occupation’s ongoing brutal war on the Gaza Strip.

The State of Qatar has adopted education as a strategic choice at the local and international levels, based on its belief that education is the main driver of development and the renaissance of peoples and societies. Qatar also believes in the right of everyone to education, especially children and women who are among the most vulnerable and fragile groups affected by political and security conditions. The State has alerted the world to the need to adopt deterrent and binding measures to protect educational facilities and prevent them from being tar
geted by attacks, the newspapers stressed.

In its editorial entitled “International Day to Protect Education from Attack,” Al-Sharq said that the International Day to Protect Education from Attack (IDPEA), which falls on Sept. 9 of each year, is observed this year amidst the ongoing Israeli war of extermination and aggression on the Gaza Strip, and the brutal destruction of all its schools and universities, in addition to the martyrdom of more than 10,000 children and 400 teachers, a complete halt of the educational process, and profound effects on the bodies, minds and souls of children.

Themed “Education in Peril: The Human Cost of War”, the 5th Observance of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack (IDPEA) was organized by the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation in Doha yesterday in the presence of a large attendance headed by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and Sustainable Development Goals Advocate, along with prominent figures from ar
ound the world, representatives of the United Nations and advocates for youth issues, Al-Sharq pointed out.

The newspaper stressed the urgent and growing need for a unified commitment to protecting education in conflict zones, and addressing global challenges that threaten the safety and accessible education, especially in war-torn areas.

Al-Sharq underlined that HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser’s historic speech during the event was clear and strong, and expressed the extent of the anger at the crimes being committed against the Palestinians and against international law in Gaza, criticizing the shameful silence of the leaders and the failure of the international community.

The unanimous approval of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack by the UN General Assembly was based on a draft resolution submitted on the initiative of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. Her great efforts to protect education in conflict zones around the world, her unique initiatives in the field of education and her prominent
role in building a better future for youth, remain a shining beacon in the history of humanity, Al-Sharq concluded.

Under the headline “Protecting Education,” Al-Watan believed that the speech of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and Sustainable Development Goals Advocate, at the 5th Observance of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack event organized by the Education Above All Foundation under the theme “Education in Peril: The Human Cost of War”, expressed the feelings of anger caused by the brutal war on the Gaza Strip, and education was its most prominent victim.

Her Highness underlined that attacking education is a barbaric assault on the lives of students and their teachers, that leaves nothing but destruction, emptiness and darkness looming over shattered dreams and hopes. She pointed out that those who target education are undoubtedly aware of what they are committing and intend it with premeditation, the paper noted.

Her Highness’s
speech expressed mixed feelings of anger and despair, but also hope in the young people who continue to protest against war and suffering, embodying the innate human instinct towards peace, before it is tainted by personal interest, pragmatism and politics, Al-Watan conclude
