Qatar-Somalia Joint Supreme Committee Convenes In Doha For Inaugural Session

Doha: The Joint Supreme Committee between the State of Qatar and the Federal Republic of Somalia convened its inaugural meeting in Doha on Monday. The Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, while the Somali delegation was headed by HE Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on bilateral cooperation and explored ways to support and enhance relations between the two countries. The discussions aimed at advancing their partnership to serve the interests of both nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides signed several agreements. These included an Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance to ensure optimal application of Customs Law and to combat customs violations. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of youth was signed, along with an MoU for cooperation in agriculture and food security. The latter was an agreement between the Ministry of Municipality in Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in Somalia. Another MoU focused on cultural cooperation between the governments of the two countries.
