Qatar Participates in 11th UNAOC Forum in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: The State of Qatar participated in the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), held in the Saudi capital. The forum was themed "UNAOC: Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity - Advancing a New Era of Mutual Respect and Understanding in a Multipolar World."

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations, led Qatar's delegation at the forum. In his address, Dr. Al Hammadi emphasized Qatar's commitment to the UNAOC's goals, which include promoting dialogue among cultures and civilizations, spreading a culture of peace and mutual respect, and combating extremism and hate speech.

Dr. Al Hammadi highlighted Qatar's belief in achieving true peace through mutual respect and recognition of cultural and religious diversity. This, he stated, is fundamental to building inclusive and equitable societies. He pointed out that current global challenges, such as the rise of extremist discourse and humanitarian crises, make the UNAOC's role increasingly critical.

He stressed the need to strengthen communication channels and protect societies, especially the youth, from hate speech and division. The forum was seen as an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and reaffirm a collective commitment to building a world governed by justice, understanding, and peace.

Dr. Al Hammadi reiterated Qatar's support for the UNAOC and called for enhanced international cooperation to address shared challenges, promote dialogue and coexistence, and establish a culture of mutual respect, which is essential for a stable society.

The 11th UNAOC Global Forum marks the 20th anniversary of the UNAOC and brings together members of the UNAOC Group of Friends, political leaders, international and regional organizations, religious leaders, and representatives from various sectors including private, civil society, academia, youth, and media.
