Qatar National Library Engages in Arab Libraries Forum on AI in Rabat

Rabat: Qatar National Library (QNL) is taking part in the inaugural Forum of National Libraries in the Arab World, held in Rabat, Morocco. The two-day event is centered around the theme “Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Libraries and Documentary Heritage.”

According to Qatar News Agency, the forum sees the participation of Khalid Al Yazidi, Director of Operations at Qatar National Library, who is slated to present a research paper. The event underscores the importance of artificial intelligence in enhancing library services and preserving documentary heritage.

At the forum’s opening, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, highlighted the strategic importance of Arab cooperation in the sphere of national libraries. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts to tackle the challenges posed by the rapid digital transformation.

He urged for stronger joint actions, the exchange of expertise, and the development of a cohesive vision to modernize and expand the
services of national libraries, thus reinforcing their vital role. The forum’s agenda includes four sessions focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence on library services, showcasing experiences from various national libraries in the Arab world, and discussing the management of manuscript heritage.
