Doha: Korea's Ambassador to Qatar, Yun Hyunsoo, highlighted the significance of Qatar National Day (QND) as an occasion that embodies the unity, progress, and cohesion of the nation. He extended his congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the people of Qatar, and residents on this auspicious day.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ambassador remarked on the profound connotations of QND, reflecting Qatar's journey of development and achievement. He emphasized the national legacy established by the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, who unified the tribes and laid the groundwork for modern Qatar.
The ambassador also lauded Qatar's pivotal role in mediating regional and international conflicts. He noted Doha's emergence as a significant platform for dialogue through strategic diplomacy and expressed Korea's appreciation for Qatar's efforts in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Furthermore, he commended Qatar's advancements towards its National Vision 2030, highlighting developments in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and smart agriculture technologies, which have bolstered food security and self-sufficiency. He also acknowledged Qatar's industrial growth in sectors like ethylene, ammonia, urea, helium, and advanced manufacturing.
The ambassador noted the fifty-year relationship between Korea and Qatar, which was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023. He emphasized Qatar's role as a key LNG supplier to Korea and mentioned that Korean companies have completed over 130 construction projects in Qatar, showcasing mutual trust.
He further highlighted expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and cybersecurity. Korea is ready to support Qatar's future projects in technology, climate, and the green transition.
Concluding his remarks to QNA, Ambassador Yun Hyunsoo expressed hopes to strengthen bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed Korea's commitment to supporting Qatar's vision and development aspirations.
