Qatar Museums Chairperson Inaugurates Three New Exhibitions at M7

Doha: HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated three art exhibitions at M7, Qatar’s hub for innovation in design, fashion, and technology.

According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibitions include “Fashion Trust Arabia: Threads of Impact,” “Houbara Haven tiara” by Chaumet featuring Qatari designer Aisha Al Attiyah, and “Amazigh Hair Couture,” curated by Moroccan artists Lalla Essaydi and Amina Agueznay, under the creative direction of Ilham Mastour. Maha Al Sulaiti, in her remarks, shared that the “Fashion Trust Arabia: Threads of Impact” exhibition showcases works by over 90 designers supported by the Fashion Trust Arabia initiative. She emphasized the role of fashion in storytelling and cultural connection, noting M7’s commitment to fostering growth in the creative economy alongside Fashion Trust Arabia.

Al Sulaiti also discussed the “Chaumet Tiara Project,” initiated in partnership with Chaumet, inspired by the “Chaumet and Nature” exhibition at M7. The “Houbara Haven tiara” exhibition highlights the journey of the tiara, designed by Aisha Al Attiyah, from concept to creation. The exhibition offers insights into the collaboration between Al Attiyah and Chaumet, showcasing sketches, photographs, and archival documents that capture the process.

Aisha Al Attiyah expressed her gratitude for winning the Chaumet Tiara project, highlighting the 740 hours of work required to bring her design to life with the help of Chaumet’s craftsmen. She shared her enthusiasm for the opportunity to showcase Qatar’s heritage globally through her design.

The exhibition design draws inspiration from the falcon’s hunting patterns and the Houbara’s habitat, with the tiara displayed among jewels in green hues, symbolizing the “Awsaj” bush.

Maha Al Sulaiti also discussed the “Amazigh Hair Couture” exhibition, which celebrates Amazigh hair traditions from Morocco. She emphasized M7’s mission to elevate diverse voices and connect regional talents with global audiences.

Creative Director Ilham Mestour shared insights into the exhibition, which is organized into thematic zones: Roots and Rituals, Body and Soul, Reframing the Gaze, and Crafting Continuity. Mestour highlighted the historical significance of hair in Amazigh cultures as a symbol of memory, beauty, and identity.

The exhibition, curated by Rajae El Mouhandiz, features fine art photography, scent, hair installations, textile works, and ethnographic archival material. It is part of the Qatar – Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, celebrating ongoing partnerships across heritage and innovation.

The exhibition program at M7 is part of Qatar Museums’ 20th anniversary celebrations under the “Evolution Nation” campaign, and also part of the Qatar Creates Fall/Winter 2025 season.
