Kuwait city: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) of Qatar participated in the 10th meeting of undersecretaries and senior officials responsible for Islamic affairs and endowments from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, held in Kuwait.
According to Qatar News Agency, the delegation from Qatar was led by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani. The discussions focused on aspirations and challenges within the sector and the exchange of expertise and best practices. Dr. Sheikh Khalid highlighted the importance of these meetings as a strategic platform for coordinating efforts among GCC countries to develop a unified vision, enhancing the religious and social roles of ministries and empowering the sector to fulfill its civilizational and humanitarian mission.
He acknowledged the commitment of the region to sustainable development and lauded the efforts of ministers and undersecretaries of Islamic affairs and endowments across the GCC. He also expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its hospitality and praised the GCC General Secretariat and the Standing Committee of Islamic Affairs Specialists for their productive work during the session.
The meeting’s agenda included proposals for sharing scientific research and experiences in endowments through virtual seminars, showcasing best practices in Islamic affairs, and establishing criteria for the successful social role of mosque imams. Other discussions covered the use of artificial intelligence in Islamic affairs, intellectual security codes for mosque imams, energy conservation in mosques, and technical requirements for building and upgrading mosques.
A proposal was also presented to hold a Gulf Week for the Protection of Religious and Moral Values of the Family. Participants put forward several recommendations to enhance cooperation among GCC states in Islamic affairs and endowments, which will be submitted for approval at the upcoming meeting of GCC Ministers of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
