Qatar Engages in Arab Social Affairs Ministers’ Meeting on Developmental Priorities

Cairo: The State of Qatar took part in the 82nd session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs at the League of Arab States’ headquarters. Representing Qatar was HE Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting’s agenda focused on several key topics essential for joint Arab developmental social work. A significant point of discussion was the social conditions in the State of Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which continues to suffer due to the actions of Israel, the occupying power.

In addition, the meeting addressed the preparations for the Second World Summit for Social Development. This summit, endorsed by a United Nations General Assembly resolution, is scheduled to be held in Doha from November 4 to 6. Another major agenda item was the upcoming Arab Summit in 2026, set to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a focus on advancing the social dossier to address issues impacting Arab citizens.

The discussions also covered support for various social development projects across Arab nations, concentrating on vulnerable groups requiring social protection. These discussions are part of broader efforts to implement the social dimensions of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and align with relevant Arab and international resolutions.
