Qatar Condemns Iran’s Actions as Gulf States Face Escalating Tensions

Doha: Al-Watan newspaper has reported that His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has labeled Iran's behavior towards Qatar as treason, following an attack on Qatar that occurred soon after the onset of regional hostilities. The attack was described as premeditated, targeting Qatar and other Gulf states almost immediately as the conflict began.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan's editorial expressed the deep disappointment felt by regional countries, especially Qatar, which has been instrumental in fostering diplomatic dialogue between Iran and the United States. The newspaper highlighted the Prime Minister's assertion that Iran's miscalculated aggression has shattered previous diplomatic efforts, forcing Qatar to prioritize its defense and ensure the safety and normalcy of its citizens' lives.

The editorial further underlined the Prime Minister's statement that regional countries desire an immediate end to the conflict, emphasizing that peace will ultimately be achieved through diplomatic negotiations. This stance reflects a consistent regional aspiration for de-escalation and dialogue.

Al-Watan concluded by reiterating Qatar's unwavering commitment to diplomacy, despite Iran's aggressive actions. The necessity for de-escalation and a return to dialogue has been a fundamental position echoed by Qatar in response to the ongoing conflict.

Al-Arab newspaper highlighted Qatar's preparedness in handling the crisis, noting the strategic stockpile of essential goods facilitated by state institutions and the private sector. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli of Qatar Chamber assured that the state has successfully maintained food supply availability and countered any potential market exploitation.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has continued to ensure the steady availability of goods across the country, reflecting robust market management amid the crisis. Citizens and residents are urged to adhere to official guidelines, avoid unnecessary stockpiling, and report any attempts at price manipulation.

The Peninsula editorial voiced concern over the Iranian attacks on non-combatant Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, warning of the potential for expanded conflict and threats to regional stability. It condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure, emphasizing the dangers posed to vital resources.

The newspaper acknowledged Qatar's firm condemnation of the Iranian aggression and its ongoing commitment to neutrality in regional disputes. The Peninsula stressed the importance of returning to negotiations to contain the crisis and prevent further destabilization, underscoring dialogue as the path to peace.
