Qatar Cancer Society Organizes Awareness Campaign for Workers

Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) carried out a quarterly awareness campaign that targeted workers to raise their awareness on the most prevalent types of cancer in accordance with the global awareness calendar.

The campaign targeted nearly 1800 workers in a number of medical facilities and private companies in collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).

Launched with Arabic, English, Urdu and Hindi languages, the campaign commenced last June to raise awareness on skin cancer, liver cancer and concluded with blood cancer awareness.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of QCS Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor Al-Thani said that such awareness campaigns are implemented in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 which gave a high priority to human health and stressed on the importance of spreading awareness among all community groups, especially workers through launching intensive periodical campaigns that aim to spread awareness on cancer and methods of prevention and early detection.

He added that since its establishment QCS has been raising awareness on cancer and methods of prevention and early detection. Over the past 25 years, QCS has expanded the base of its beneficiaries, in addition to reaching out to all community segments in their recognition of all people's right to enjoy mental and physical health.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of QCS stressed the importance of encouraging people to pursue a healthy lifestyle among all community segments, especially that 40 percent of cancer cases are preventable through pursuing a healthy lifestyle and 40 percent of cases are curable once they are early detected.
