Doha: The State of Qatar announced that it facilitated the release of American citizen Amir Amiri, who had been detained in Afghanistan, adding that he is on his way to Doha and will depart for his country at a later date.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi expressed Qatar’s appreciation for the cooperation shown by both the Afghan caretaker government and the United States. He highlighted Qatar’s commitment to mediation efforts aimed at finding peaceful solutions to international conflicts and disputes, emphasizing the nation’s foreign policy principles centered on dialogue to enhance regional and international security and stability.
Dr. Al Khulaifi remarked that this development serves as a significant incentive for encouraging direct dialogue and strengthening communication channels between the involved parties. He noted that such efforts contribute to mutual understanding and create a more positive atmosphere for addressing unresolved issues.
